Lanesborough Tidy Towns Committee are responsible for implementing and ongoing programme of development and regeneration in the town of Lanesborough and the group works in close partnership with other local groups, Lanesborough Co-Op, Shannonside Heritage and Connaught counterparts, Ballyleague Tidy Towns. The aim of the group is to improve the visual appearance of the town for locals and visitors alike, co-ordinate the annual Tidy Towns competition entry and improve consistently from year to year in the criteria as set out by National Tidy Towns.

Lough Ree Sub-Aqua club was founded in 1993 to help people become divers to carry out searches of lakes and rivers in the Longford and Midlands area. At present it is one of the few clubs to have a dedicated rescue centre, consisting of a 600 square foot building in Lanesborough town centre on the banks of the Shannon.Read more
