Lanesboro Triathlon Club – Lanesboro Aquathon
Next Wednesday 26th June Lanesboro Tri Club will host the Lanesboro Aquathon which is part of the Midland Interclub Series (Aquathon series between Lanesboro, Longford, Midland and Athlone Tri Clubs).
The Aquathon is a 750m swim and 5k run. It will take place at 7pm in the lake beside the duck pond. We welcome locals to get out and support the athletes and enjoy the buzz of transition as participants finish the swim, rip off the wetsuits and get into their running gear.
There will be a prize giving in the Co-op Hall afterwards.

Run, Fun Run & Walk
Lanesborough plays host to a Run and a Fun Run on Sunday 7th April at 2pm. Registration will take place in St. Mary’s Parish Hall from 12:30pm—1:30pm. For the energetic among you the 10km route starts in the car park behind the hall and continues around Lisrevagh. For those who wish to take it easy, the 6km starts at the same spot and continues around Rathcline. It should be a great family day out and you don’t have to run… you can walk. Celebrity Bainisteoir Match Day
Our local Celebrity Bainisteoir match between rivals Rozanna Purcell and her team Cashel and Jessica Lawlor and her team Ballinora will take place on Sunday, 2nd September in Pairc Naomh Ciaran, Newtowncashel. Throw in at 3pm, with match commentary by Micheal O’Muircheartaigh. Entry to the match is free, car parking is €3 per car and the souvenir programme is €5.

Sub-aqua Club Fundraiser at Faithleach’s
In order to raise money for our fire disaster fund we are having a Fun Raising Social in St. Faithleach’s Clubhouse, Ballyleague, Lanesborough on the night of Friday 31st August. Tickets are on sale @ 10 euros each and are available from all club members. Dancing from 10pm and music by Jimmy Hussey, Can’t Hardly Play Boys and special guests.

Stars of ’65
Founded in October 1962, St. Faithleach Club celebrates 50 years of its proud existence this year. To mark their Golden Jubilee a number of celebratory events are planned the first of which sees the reunion of the heroes from the 1965 Senior Championship Winning team. Read more
Honda 50 Run & Family Fun Day
On Sunday 12th August a special fundraising event will take place at Ballyleague, Co. Roscommon in aid of The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI). Called ‘Honda 50 Ride Around Lough Ree’, up to 100 motorcyclists will taking part with day-long activities at the Waterways Ireland Marina, Ballyleague with lots of family entertainment plus kayaking, sailing and a day-long BBQ.

Lough Ree Environmental Summer Festival 2012

Welcome to the 15th Lough Ree Environmental Summer Festival, launched in style by celebrated writer and journalist John Waters in an open air performance in the Commons Quarry. This year we focus on the rich natural heritage and celebrate the great outdoors with Bushcraft camping and Wooly Wards Pet Farm for children and a Royal Canal trip with Dick Warner and a Herbalist Workshop for the grown ups. There will be glass painting classes and a young scientist competition, titled Science Helping the Environment for local students in collaboration with Abbott Longford. We hope you will take part and enjoy the few days entertainment on offer.

Rathcline GAA are running a Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13. The camp is an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Launch of Lough Ree Environmental Summer Festival
The 15th annual festival will be launched in a grand performance on the 27th July in the newly cleaned up Lanesborough Commons Lime Quarry. Officiating the launch will be Roscommon born, celebrated writer and journalist John Waters. The line up for this auspicious evening’s entertainment will include harpist Edel Loftus and trad musician Noel Carberry. Food and wine will be served and sky lanterns will be released on the night to mark the occassion.
