The 2012 Lough Ree Environmental Summer Festival is running from 9th—12th August this year. The 15th annual festival will be launched in a grand performance on the 27th July in the newly cleaned up Lanesborough Commons Lime Quarry. Officiating the launch will be Roscommon born, celebrated writer and journalist John Waters. The line up for this auspicious evening’s entertainment will include harpist Edel Loftus and trad musician Noel Carberry. Food and wine will be served and sky lanterns will be released on the night to mark the occassion.
The Programme
The Festival programme itself promises to be very exciting, especially for children, as it focuses on the great outdoors – with bushcraft camping, a fast paced lake trip and Wooly Wards Pet Farm. A major feature of the event is an exhibition of the entries for the young scientist competition sponsored by Abbott, titled ‘Science Helping the Environment’. Check out the full programme in the events guide.
